| NIOB CONDEMN FCT DEMOLITION OF 500 HOUSING UNITS
|
The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development has condemned the Department Development Control of Federal Capital Territory, FCTA for demolition of 500 housing Units in the Territory recently.
Speaking to newsmen, Bldr. Chucks A. Omeife, President, Nigerian Institute of Building said that Housing development in Nigeria is full of fraud. He said, if there were contraventions done by anyone in the course of Building, the demolition should have come much earlier not when houses have reached 85% completed.
There is so much investment in those houses demolished."The thing is that, anyone who has worked very hard to earn money will be patient in destroying another person's investment especially when it comes to issue of property." Bldr. Omeife stressed that there is much to the story than meets the eye. He claimed that the demolition will be a very big discouragement to private investors, disclosing that if the minister can wake up one morning an destroy an investment worth millions of naira, it will be difficult for anyone to come and invest his/her money.
